Celebrate the future

Updated: Apr 17, 2025

Passover is more than a celebration of past freedoms; it’s also a time for reflection and hope for the future. As we approach the final days of the holiday, we turn our attention to one of its most powerful stories—the splitting of the Red Sea—and the timeless lessons it offers. But these days are also about looking forward, to the ultimate redemption with Moshiach, when the entire world will experience the deeper truths of existence.

In life, it’s easy to focus on what’s right in front of us. A first impression, a passing moment, or even a challenge can feel like the whole picture. But the story of the splitting of the Red Sea reminds us that there’s always more beneath the surface. The sea appeared like an impassable barrier, but when it split, it revealed a path to freedom and miracles beyond imagination.

This idea applies to all aspects of life. In relationships, it’s about getting to know people for who they really are, not just who we think they are. In learning, it’s about going beyond surface-level understanding to uncover deeper meaning. And in our own struggles, it’s about trusting that there’s more going on than we can see, even when the way forward isn’t clear.

The final day of Passover is especially significant because it connects the redemption from Egypt to the ultimate redemption with Moshiach. On this day, we don’t just look back at the miracles of the past—we look forward to a future where the world will be filled with peace and the full revelation of G-dliness.

The splitting of the sea wasn’t just a one-time event. It was a glimpse of what’s to come, when the “seas” of life—the things that conceal truth—will be permanently split. In that time, the hidden will be revealed, and we’ll see the world for what it truly is: a place filled with G-d’s presence and infinite potential.

But this isn’t just about waiting for a distant future; it’s about living with redemption in mind right now. Every time we choose to look deeper, to bring more kindness and light into the world, we’re preparing for Moshiach.

When we see challenges, instead of giving up, we can remind ourselves of the sea that once seemed like an impossible obstacle. Just as it split for our ancestors, G-d promises that our challenges, too, will lead to something greater.

As Passover comes to a close, let’s take its lessons with us into the year ahead. Let’s look beyond the surface in our relationships, in our learning, and in our faith. Let’s remember that no matter how things may seem, the future is filled with promise.

And most importantly, let’s keep our eyes on the ultimate goal: a world redeemed, where every barrier is broken, and the deepest truths of existence are revealed. The last day of Passover invites us to taste that future and to bring its light into our lives today.

Chag Sameach! May we merit to see the final redemption with Moshiach speedily in our days.
